The Materials Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of construction materials for heavy civil infrastructure projects such as large-scale residential projects, roadways, and commercial/industrial projects. This position requires industry knowledge, and the ability to coordinate with suppliers, project teams, and field operations to maintain project schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with project timelines and budgets.
- Source and evaluate suppliers for construction materials including aggregates, concrete, steel, piping, geotextiles, and other civil infrastructure components.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors in order to schedule daily tasks efficiently.
- Monitor vendor performance and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
- Coordinate delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive on-site as needed.
- Work with logistics teams to optimize transportation and storage solutions.
- Track inventory levels and forecast future material needs.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier communications.
- Provide regular updates on procurement status and potential risks to project timelines.
