CNC Set-up Machinist

salary: $52,000 - $58,500 per year

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes and milling machines to fabricate high-precision metal components for prototypes and tooling
• Read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications
• Perform precision measurements and quality checks using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology tools
• Work closely with engineering teams to machine one-off and small-batch parts for development and test hardware
• Troubleshoot machining challenges, apply problem-solving skills to ensure dimensional accuracy and reduce scrap
• Maintain equipment and participate in preventive maintenance activities to ensure machine reliability
• Deburr and finish parts on-machine when possible to reduce rework and improve workflow efficiency
• Follow shop safety procedures, 5S, and contribute to a clean and organized work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience operating manual lathes and milling machines in a high-precision environment
• Demonstrated ability to machine complex components to tight tolerances
• Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting GD&T symbols
• Skilled in machining a wide range of metals including steel, stainless, aluminum, and alloy materials

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience on DMG Mori and HAAS CNC Machines
• Familiarity with prototype workflows and quick-turn part manufacturing
• Manual Machining exerience is a PLUS

The essential functions of this role include:

• wearing steel toe shoes
• manual lifting up to 50lbs
• standing for 9 hours at one time
• working up to 10 hrs of overtime per week
