POSITION TITLE:

• Purchasing and Accounting Specialist

JOB LOCATION:

• City Hall.
• City of Zephyrhills.

SALARY RANGE:

• Starting Salary: $43,901.53 / $21.1065/hr.
• Pay Grade Z-157.
• Non-Exempt.

FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT STATUS: Applicable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Associates degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Three (3) to four (4) years of progressively responsible experience involving the purchase of a wide variety of services, supplies, and major capital equipment.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in procurement is required.
• A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• This position is responsible for providing financial clerical services to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial records.
• This position ensures compliance of the City’s purchasing policy, facilitating procurement processes, and maintaining accurate fixed asset records.
• Must have strong organizational skills, and work ethics.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Develops and facilitates the purchase, procurement, and contracting process to provide guidance related to procedures and compliance with applicable laws and policies.
• Develops and includes appropriate documents for the procurement process used for each specific solicitation.
• Maintain the fixed asset system.
• Reconcile to general ledger and distribute capital asset listing.
• Prepare schedules and reports for external auditors.
• Secure and maintain certificates of insurance and license requirements.
• Prepare financial records that are associated with the various grants and FEMA activities for the City.
• Review the daily bank transactions and cleared checks, and make the appropriate entries into the Cities financial software.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

• The selected candidate will have a background check, credit check, and physical exam completed before employment.
• Possession and maintenance of a Florida driver license is also required before employment.

The compensation package will start at the base salary range and may vary based on proven abilities of the individual selected. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
