Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to partner with an established, full-service reference laboratory on Florida’s Gulf Coast that is expanding into molecular infectious disease testing. We’re seeking an experienced Technical Supervisor to provide day-to-day scientific and technical oversight of the PCR department.
This hands-on role is perfect for someone who enjoys being at the bench while mentoring others, improving processes, and ensuring regulatory excellence. You’ll play a key part in launching and growing the molecular program alongside a tight-knit, high-performing lab team.
What You’ll Do
Daily Bench Operations

Training & Team Development
Train and mentor internal staff on molecular workflows, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Develop competency assessments, checklists, and continuing education plans.
Build consistency, accuracy, and speed across the team.
Validation & Method Performance
Lead assay validations and verifications (accuracy, precision, LoD/LoQ, reportable range, inclusivity/exclusivity).
Write and maintain validation plans, reports, and change-control documentation.
Quality System & Compliance
Oversee daily QC/QA (Levey-Jennings, Westgard rules, trend analysis) and proficiency testing.
Maintain full CLIA/CAP compliance, including IQCP, document control, and internal audits.
Prepare and host inspections confidently.
Operations & Documentation
Author and maintain SOPs and work instructions.
Collaborate with QA/IT teams on LIS rules, auto-verification, and HL7 interfaces.
Manage consumables inventory and preventive maintenance schedules.
What You’ll Bring
Meets CLIA qualifications for High-Complexity Technical Supervisor (Microbiology or Molecular).
2+ years of hands-on experience in a molecular infectious disease lab.
Demonstrated success leading assay validations and managing QC programs.
Proven ability to train, mentor, and standardize staff performance.
Eligible for or able to obtain a Florida Supervisor license (Molecular Pathology).
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive pay up to $120,000/year, based on experience.
Full benefits package, including health insurance, PTO, and relocation assistance.
Option for full-time employment or contract engagement (would have to be minimum of 6 months).
Opportunity to help grow a new molecular division from the ground up.
