Core Summary

The Electrician, Licensed performs building maintenance and repair work, and responds to the corrective needs of electrical equipment, and system components.

Core Responsibilities

• Tests emergency generators, and conditioning and heating systems. Maintains and repairs circulator and sump pumps, refrigeration units, fans, and other electrical equipment.

• Installs lighting fixtures and other electrical apparatus.

• Tests circuits for continuity and overloading.

• Conducts fire alarm tests and participates in the movement and installation of machinery and equipment.

• Evaluates equipment performance using instruments, such as voltmeters, ohmmeters, pyrometers, and pressure gauges.

• Works from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring and equipment.

• Maintains records, prepares reports, and orders supplies and equipment.

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Certification in relevant specialty or field, Journeyman License

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience

• Must be able to consistently and reliably commute to the worksite during scheduled hours and as needed outside of regular business hours.

• Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

• Commitment to the University’s core values.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.
