Director of Pharmacy
Job Description
Job Description
Centermark Placements has been retained by a growing healthcare organization that has grown my more than 60% over the past year years.
Pharmacy sits at the center of the next phase of growth.
The organization currently operates multiple pharmacy locations, with additional sites coming online in the near term. The opportunity ahead is to scale the pharmacy program into a high-performing, fully integrated service line—by increasing prescription capture rates, enhancing patient experience, expanding access through delivery and convenience models, and embedding pharmacy more deeply into clinical care.
This is not a “maintain the status quo” role. It is a build-and-optimize opportunity for a leader who can elevate pharmacy into a true strategic driver of both patient outcomes and organizational performance.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
- Pharmacy is a Strategic Priority (Not an Afterthought)
Pharmacy is viewed as a core growth engine for the organization—not just a support function. Executive leadership is fully aligned and actively investing in expanding the pharmacy footprint and capabilities. - Real Opportunity to Build & Shape
This is a rare chance to step into a program that is already established—but still early enough in its evolution to shape its direction. - Clinical + Operational Impact
The organization is intentionally moving toward a more clinically integrated pharmacy model, where pharmacists play an active role in chronic disease management, medication adherence and optimization, and provider collaboration and education - Strong Leadership Support & Collaborative Culture
You will work directly with a highly engaged executive team in a culture that values, cross-functional collaboration, new ideas and innovation, and input from leaders across the organization - Balanced Leadership Role (Not Just Administrative)
This role is intentionally designed to combine, strategic leadership, operational execution, and clinical engagement. You'll have an opportunity to work a few days per week in the pharmacy so that you stay connected to the front line - Building a Scalable Pharmacy Leadership Structure
As the pharmacy program grows, the organization is intentionally building out a broader leadership team—including future roles such as Assistant Directors and additional site-level leaders—to support expansion and long-term scalability. - Established & Collaborative Pharmacy Team
The organization has built a strong foundation, including an experienced pharmacy team and a dedicated 340B Manager. This collaborative structure ensures you are supported in both operational execution and program complexity as you scale the department.
Key Priorities
While there are clear growth and optimization goals, the organization is focused on building a strong foundation in year one—prioritizing relationship development, operational alignment, and sustainable progress over short-term gains.
- Drive expansion of the organization’s in-house pharmacy footprint, including new site launches
- Increase prescription capture rate
- Strengthen clinical integration between pharmacy and providers
- Build scalable workflows, staffing models, and operational infrastructure
- Enhance provider engagement and internal adoption of pharmacy services
- Improve patient experience and pharmacy accessibility
- Monitor and optimize KPIs including capture rate, fill time, and patient satisfaction
- Develop and mentor pharmacy leadership and staff
- Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership
Background Profile
- Experience leading or scaling pharmacy operations (direct ownership or a supportive leadership role)
- Active clinical pharmacy background with the ability to remain hands-on in patient care (1–2 days/week) while leading pharmacy operations and strategy
- Understanding of key pharmacy performance metrics, including prescription capture rate, fill time, and patient experience, with the ability to use data to drive continuous improvement
- Experience functioning as an embedded clinical partner to providers with experience such as medication management, chronic disease support, and development of clinical protocols
- Working knowledge of the 340B program - deep expertise is valued but not required given internal support structure
- Ability to influence providers, leadership, and cross-functional teams
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to drive adoption of new processes and initiatives across the organization
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on growth and continuous improvement; willingness to be hands-on while building long-term systems
