Description:
A Material Handler handles, moves, and stores inventory and non-hazardous and hazardous materials within the plant using a forklift. Their primary duties include loading and unloading different transport items, recording inventory statuses, shipping and receiving, and ensuring deliveries properly match purchase orders.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Track & expedite the flow of products on the production floor through key operations under the guidelines and requirements established by Material Controls and Production.
· Expedite, track, and document the flow of products through the outside vendors, ensuring delivery schedules are met.
· Work with Production and Material Controls to supply information and suggestions on improving shipping performance to achieve 100% on-time delivery to customers.
· Ensure raw materials for jobs are at workstations as required by working with Production.
· Count, package, weigh, and prepare products for shipment, as well as the required documents for the shipping and billing of products to customers.
· Unpack and examine incoming shipments for rejects, damaged items, or shortages and correspond with the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
· Promptly route items, packing slips, material certifications, and material safety data sheets to appropriate departments.
· Tag and label all incoming materials in the warehouse as company policies and practices require.
· Count inventory as required by company policies.
· Pull inventory tags for material removed from the warehouse and give them to accounting for processing.
· Maintain location, integrity, and storage of items in the warehouse, finished goods inventory, and shipping materials and supplies.
· Maintain a safe and clean warehouse.
· Operate a forklift on the production floor and warehouse.
· All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION
· Good organizational and interpersonal skills
· Must have forklift certification.
· High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
· Have working knowledge of material handling.
· 1- 2 years of experience in material handling in a manufacturing enviroment
· Self-motivated individual capable of multitasking in a production machining environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate information with managers and other employees, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rate, ratio, interest, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding carrying out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, flying metal burrs and chips, and possible chemical irritants such as water-based coolants, hydraulic oils, de-greasing soap, and mineral spirits. The employee is occasionally exposed to uncomfortable cold or heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
