POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Kitchen Manager plays a vital leadership role within back-of-house operations at Don Julio Restaurant Group. This position supports the Executive Chef and Kitchen Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, ensuring culinary consistency, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality, and efficiency.
This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role requiring accountability, operational awareness, and the ability to lead by example in a high-volume kitchen environment.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION
  • Schedule : Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Hourly rate: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour
  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision
Compensation is determined based on experience, leadership capability, and demonstrated kitchen management skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supervise and lead kitchen staff during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure food is prepared and presented according to Don Julio’s recipes and standards.
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness requirements.
  • Support scheduling, labor management, and daily kitchen operations.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, receiving, and cost control.
  • Monitor ticket times, portion control, and plating consistency.
  • Provide coaching and hands-on training to kitchen team members.
  • Maintain communication with front-of-house leadership for smooth service flow.
  • Uphold the “Culture of Yes” through accountability and professionalism.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational success.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and kitchen systems.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to:
  • Stand and walk for extended periods (8–10 hours per shift).
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, stoop, and work in confined spaces.
  • Work in hot, humid, high-pressure kitchen environments.
  • Safely operate kitchen equipment including knives, ovens, fryers, and grills.
