The Part Time Maintenance I position involves routine maintenance of buildings, grounds, vehicles and equipment at the Safety Harbor.
The person in this position is directly responsible to the Supervisor of Maintenance.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
- Provide a teaching arena for youth involved in the Work Program through work experience in the Maintenance Department.
3. Make routine repairs to the buildings as pertains to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and appliance repair.
4. Maintain the exterior appearance of buildings by periodic pressure cleaning.
5. Maintain lawns and operation of mowing equipment.
- Trimming and edging landscaped areas.
- Maintain weed control through regular application of herbicides.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on vehicles and equipment such as oil changes, checking air in tires, etc.
- Assist with non-cash donation pick-ups.
10. Ensures the procurement and purchasing of items for areas of responsibility in
accordance with agency purchasing policy and procedures.”
The person filling this position must have a high school diploma or GED. Two to three years work experience in general maintenance related field is preferred.
Job Type: Part-TimePay: $15.50 per hour
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each area of responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.- Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one on one small group situations.
- Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have a good working knowledge of all areas of maintenance.
5. Must have a valid Florida Driver License and be able to maintain a safe driving
record consistent with agency policy.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, hear, talk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and reach with hands and arms. The employee is extensively required to stand and use hands and fingers.
The employee will regularly lift and or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception. The employee must be able to hear and will be subjected to loud noises. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions for this job generally include outdoor weather conditions, working near mechanical moving parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally working in wet, humid conditions, high, precarious places, and exposure to fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
