Journeyman - Mechanical

GEMCO Constructors, LLC , headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, is a mechanical, electrical, plumbing, building automation systems and service contractor providing comprehensive design and build solutions for its customers throughout the United States.

Position Summary

The Mechanical/HVAC Journeyman is responsible for the assembling and installing of HVAC units to new and existing construction projects, as well as assist Foreman in running projects. Act as trainer to apprentices.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Must be able to run spiral duct, TDF, S&D
• Lead a crew
• Able to cut duct, measure, offsets
• Familiar with different hanging systems
• Build and level curbs on decking
• Must have own set of tools to include: basic hand tools, power tools ie: impact drill, Sawzall

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience running HVAC duct work for large commercial projects
• Read, understand, and analyze blueprints and specifications
• Full knowledge of duct work, duct systems
• Computer literate
• Operate power tools and understand tools for the job.
• Operate equipment. (scissor lift, boom lift and Lull)
• Clean driving record.
• Pass a background check and drug test
• Requires the ability to comply with all safety policies and procedures; communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure projects are completed properly.

Physical Demands

• The position requires standing, bending, reaching, lifting a majority of the workday
• Lift repetitively 50 pounds.
• Climb ladders.
• Work from scaffolding and lifts.
• Drive a company vehicle (truck).
• Capable of driving long distances (up to 14 hours per day) between job sites.
• Other manual labor as required.
