Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position in Margate, FL, requiring 2 years of acute OR experience with ortho, spine, and joint replacement skills.
Details
- Hospital-based Operating Room on the 1st floor of the main building, with 7 OR beds
- Procedures performed include joint replacement, ENT, ortho, spine, urology, vascular, podiatry, thoracic surgery, and plastic surgery
- Specialized equipment includes robotics, spine, and vascular systems
- Patient ratio is 1:1; rooms are staffed with either 1 RN and 1 tech or 2 RNs, with a clinical coordinator supporting all specialty service lines
- Documents system: Meditech
- Shift hours are 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- On-call is required for 1–2 shifts during the week and 1 weekend shift per 4-week period
- Rotating weekends are a possibility
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active FL or Compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA or ARC accepted; must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
- Minimum 2 years of current acute OR experience required
- Ortho, spine, and joint replacement experience required, including knee and hip replacements
- Must be proficient as both a scrub and circulator across all service lines
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration — no exceptions; Canadian SSNs are not accepted
- Two professional references required (Florida requirement)
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more in the past 12 months
Additional Information
- RN responsibilities include observation, assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care
- Proficiency in charting, multi-tasking, and critical thinking is expected
- OR scrubs are provided by the unit
- PALS, CNOR certification, and charge nurse experience are preferred
- The facility is a 228-bed Joint Commission-accredited hospital, designated a top-performing hospital since 1980, and is a certified primary stroke center and Blue Distinction Stroke Center
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible, no exceptions
