Structured Cabling Installer (Level 2)
The Installer II will be responsible for installing horizontal cabling systems, pathway infrastructure, terminations, labeling, and assisting with testing/documentation while following TIA standards and BICSI best practices. Responsibilities
- Install Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A cabling
- Terminate jacks, faceplates, and patch panels
- Install J-hooks, cable tray, supports, and pathway infrastructure
- Read and interpret basic drawings, pull sheets, and cable schedules
- Maintain accurate labeling and documentation logs
- Assist with cable testing and test setup
- Follow TIA standards and BICSI best practices
- Work independently on assigned installation tasks
- Support and mentor Level 1 helpers when assigned
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites
- Produce quality work with minimal punch-list or rework items
- Complete assigned tasks on schedule
- Maintain accurate documentation and labeling standards
- Demonstrate safe work habits and strong attention to detail
- Continue progressing toward higher technical competency and certification goals
- 1+ year of structured cabling or low-voltage field experience
- Understanding of basic installation methods and cabling practices
- Ability to read and interpret simple drawings and plans
- Reliable transportation and strong work ethic
- Ability to work in construction jobsite environments, including lifts and confined spaces
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1)
- OSHA-30 Certification
- Manufacturer copper certification/training
- Experience mentoring junior helpers or apprentices
