We are seeking dedicated and clinically minded individuals to join our Prevention and Diversion Department as Youth Prevention Services (YPS) Counselors . This pivotal role is perfect for candidates ready to apply their deep understanding of youth development, systemic challenges, and therapeutic intervention to make a lasting, positive impact.
As a YPS Counselor, you will be on the frontline, utilizing your professional background to address the complex social, emotional, and behavioral needs of young people and their families. This is a chance to move beyond general human services and directly apply your specialized skills in intervention and support.
Youth Prevention Counselor Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted one-on-one and/or group counseling to youth, drawing on your knowledge of therapeutic techniques (e.g., CBT, solution-focused therapy) to address challenges related to mental health, trauma, family dynamics, and peer relationships.
- Collaborate actively with youth and their families to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop evidence-based service plans that drive measurable growth and stability.
- Leverage your knowledge of the child welfare and social service system to connect youth and families with essential community resources, ensuring continuity of care and holistic support.

Youth Prevention Counselor Requirements:
- Master’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field; and a minimum of one (1) year of professional experience specifically in the field of child welfare or social services.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a major in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field; and a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience specifically in the field of child welfare or social services .
- Possess a valid Florida Driver’s License in good standing and be insurable by the agency’s current insurance carrier.
- Must meet all state criminal background check requirements.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of youth and families.
- Strong knowledge of local community resources and the ability to integrate them into service plans.
Youth Prevention Counselor Compensation & Benefits:
- Pay Range: $50,000 - $54,000
- 5 weeks of PTO accruals available during the first year of employment
