Surgery Scheduler

OVERVIEW:
Schedule and register patients for procedures, ensure documents are included appropriately in the medical record, and obtain patient signatures for treatment and billing purposes. Escalate problems as needed in a timely manner. Act as a liaison with the billing company to provide documents needed to support surgical care and billing.

SKILLS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Computer skills.
• Legible handwriting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• One year previous experience as clerk/receptionist in a healthcare setting preferred.
• CPR Certification is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Communicate effectively regarding all aspects of job responsibilities.
• Be able to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Organize, set priorities, manage multiple priorities, and readily adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

• Understand and adhere to the Organization’s Standards of Conduct.
• Perform clerical duties within established procedural guidelines.
• Demonstrate role accountability.
• Serve as a professional role model.
• Be self-directed and able to work independently.
• Attend and participate in all applicable surgery center training scheduled by the facility.
• Maintain work area and equipment in an orderly manner.
• Maintains dress and appearance according to standards as observed by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
