Job Title: Accountant

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8 Hour Shift

Pay: From 46,700 to 98,000

Reports to: CEO/FOUNDER

Position Summary:

The Accountant is a key member of Inlet Grove Community High School’s administrative team and is responsible for overseeing the school’s financial operations, accounting systems, and compliance with state, federal, and organizational requirements. This role requires a highly detail-oriented professional with strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, capable of managing the general ledger and financial reporting for multiple funds and entities in a fast-paced educational environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience in accounting, finance or related fields, governmental experience preferred.
• Successful experience with financial accounting systems; QuickBooks strongly preferred .
• Demonstrated ability in utilizing a large, complex automated financial system, governmental experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex accounting issues and prepare comprehensive reports for external and internal uses.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Knowledge of current computing technologies and software applications appropriate to the position’s job responsibilities.

Performance Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for financial operations of the school accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grants.
• Development and monitoring of the school’s operating budgets and ensure that all budgets are in compliance with state and budget adopting and reporting requirements.
• Monitor the reporting of student enrollment in terms of full-time equivalent (FTE) students.
• Responsible for overseeing the company’s insurance coverage; auto and general liability, workers’ compensation, and employee benefit plans.
• Responsible for banking and merchant services.
• Supports the needs of the faculty and staff with purchasing all commodities and services as needed.
• Prepare accurate accounting records and monthly financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to standard defined within the department.
• Analyze accounting information and prepare specialized funding reports.
• Perform general bookkeeping duties, and maintain accurate financial reports and records.
• Establish account records and input entries into the accounting software; QuickBooks.
• Recording monthly journal entries.
• Review the school’s monthly/quarterly financial statements prepared by the certified public accountant.
• Report the finances of the organization to the CEO/FOUNDER.
• Prepare forms and manuals for accounting department.
• Adhere to all operating and financial policies and procedures.
• Create invoices and resolve invoice discrepancies to support payment within agreed upon terms.
• Communicate with certified public accountant and auditor as needed.
• Year end audit prep.
• Responsible for reporting monthly Florida Retirement employee/employer contributions.
• Review bi monthly payroll batch reports.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Experience in governmental, charter school, or nonprofit accounting.
• Payroll system experience (Paymaster, Paycom preferred).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Work Requirements:

• Work location: Onsite at Inlet Grove Community High School.
• Ability to commute to Riviera Beach, FL 33404 (required).
• Office-based work environment.
• Expected hours: 40 hours per week.
