Position Overview
Florida Physician Group, a member of HSA Hospitals (Hospital Systems of America) , is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon to join our growing orthopedic service line at the hospital in South Florida. Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with musculoskeletal complaints, including detailed history, physical examination, and interpretation of imaging and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans, including surgical intervention, injections, rehabilitation, and conservative/non-operative modalities.
- Perform orthopedic surgical procedures within credentialed scope (e.g., joint replacement, fracture fixation, arthroscopy, spine or other subspecialty procedures, as applicable to training and privileges).
- Provide perioperative care, including pre-operative optimization, intraoperative decision-making, and post-operative follow-up, with attention to outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, rehabilitation teams, anesthesia, nursing, and case management to ensure seamless transitions across care settings.
- Participate in call coverage for orthopedic emergencies and trauma as assigned by the department, including prompt evaluation and management of urgent cases.
- Document all clinical encounters, procedures, and plans accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, ensuring appropriate coding and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in quality initiatives, peer review, and clinical guideline development to support continuous improvement in orthopedic care.
- Provide education and supervision to residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, and other learners, if applicable.
- Comply with hospital bylaws, departmental policies, and professional practice standards.
- Perform other orthopedic-related duties as requested in support of service line and institutional goals.
Qualifications & Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency.
- Fellowship training in an orthopedic subspecialty (e.g., sports, joints, trauma, spine, hand) preferred for designated roles.
- Board eligible or board certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
- Current, unrestricted state medical license (or eligibility) and DEA registration.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications; ATLS preferred where trauma coverage is expected.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered, high-quality musculoskeletal care.
