Job Title: Firefighter/Paramedic

Salary Information:

Minimum: $50,624 annually
Maximum: $85,354 annually
Additional Paramedic Incentive: $13,950 annually (phased based on certification and clearance by Medical Director)

Education:
Associate's Degree: $500
Bachelor's Degree: $1,000
Master's Degree: $1,500
Engineer Incentive: $48.08 per pay period for completing the engineer program
Specialty Pay:
Operational Level: $29 per pay period
Technical Level: $29 per pay period
Paid Time Off:

24 hours per month for 0-10 years of service
Five 24-hour Kelly days annually for employees with less than three years of service

Job Requirements:

Age: 18 or older
Citizenship: U.S.
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
Driver's License: Must have a valid Florida Driver's License upon hire
Certifications Required:
Florida State Firefighters Certificate of Compliance
Florida Paramedic Certification
CPR and ACLS Certifications (or equivalents)
Essential Duties:

Respond to fire alarms and emergency medical calls
Suppress and extinguish fires using proper techniques and equipment
Rescue victims from hazardous conditions
Administer advanced medical care and stabilize patients for transport
Operate and maintain fire department vehicles, equipment, and facilities
Perform salvage operations and maintain station cleanliness
Participate in public education programs and community outreach
Attend ongoing training in firefighting and emergency medical services
Job Description:
Under general direction, the Firefighter/Paramedic is responsible for fire prevention, suppression, and advanced emergency medical services. Work involves responding to emergencies, commanding scenes until relieved, and assisting with training entry-level personnel. Employees must exercise sound judgment and initiative in high-pressure situations to minimize injury, loss of life, and property damage.

Knowledge of fire rescue and EMT principles, laws, and policies
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to operate heavy fire rescue vehicles and equipment safely
Proficiency in record-keeping and software applications
Ability to respond calmly and effectively to emergencies
Physical Requirements:

Emergency tasks may require running, climbing, lifting, carrying, and operating in high temperatures and toxic atmospheres
Must wear protective gear weighing up to 60 pounds
Ability to lift, push, or pull heavy objects and individuals (20-150 pounds)
