Occupational Therapist, OT (School Based)

Green Cove Springs, FL

About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, driven, and collaborative Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our student services team in Green Cove Springs, FL. In this dynamic role, you will evaluate, design, and deliver individualized OT services for students navigating developmental delays, sensory processing challenges, motor skill deficits, and physical disabilities. Working alongside educators, specialists, and families, you will empower students to build the functional skills needed to access their curriculum, gain independence, and achieve meaningful educational outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate & Assess: Conduct comprehensive, school-based assessments across sensory, fine/gross motor, visual-motor, and functional domains to determine eligibility and establish IEP/504 goals.

  • Design Care & Educational Plans: Create evidence-based treatment plans and measurable IEP goals aimed at improving classroom participation, handwriting, tool use, and school-day independence.

  • Execute Targeted Interventions:

    • Implement direct and indirect therapies focusing on fine motor control, visual-perceptual skills, upper extremity stability, and motor planning.

    • Provide specialized sensory regulation and processing strategies to support attention and classroom readiness.

    • Train students on school-related ADLs, compensatory techniques, self-care routines, and assistive technology.

  • Educate & Empower: Consult with teachers, school staff, and families on classroom accommodations, sensory diets, adaptive seating, and home carryover strategies.

  • Maintain Documentation: Complete high-quality, compliant documentation—including initial evaluations, re-evaluations, progress reports, service logs, and annual IEP documentation—within required school timelines.

  • Collaborate: Partner closely with special education teachers, SLPs, PTs, COTAs, school psychologists, and parents to ensure an integrated, student-centered approach to care.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE-accredited institution.

  • Licensure: Active (or eligible for) Occupational Therapist license in the State of Florida.

  • Certification: Current NBCOT certification and CPR/BLS certification.

  • Skills & Attributes:

    • Strong organizational, time-management, and IEP documentation skills.

    • High intrinsic motivation, adaptability, and self-initiative in a school environment.

    • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative communication skills.

    • Prior experience in pediatric or school-based settings is highly preferred (sensory integration background is a plus).
