A Day in the Life

Step onto the shop floor with a clear purpose: transform raw steel into reliable components for life-safety systems.

• Start of shift: Review cut lists, measure precisely, and set up the rotary chop saw and band saw to cut pipe to exact lengths. Guide and move pipe along the table, offloading to carts or crates for staging.
• Mid-morning: Groove pipe ends using Victaulic or Pace grooving machines, and apply threads with the threader to the specified pipe.
• After lunch: Use Mercury or Pace make-on equipment to apply fittings, then switch to the band saw to cut threaded rod and install hanger devices at specified lengths.
• Late afternoon: Shape rod ends on the bench grinder for hanger applications. Bundle and prepare orders with the pneumatic bander, staple boxes to pallets with a pneumatic stapler, and push loaded pipe carts to the loading area. Retrieve materials and move pipe with a forklift as needed.
• All day, every day: Follow company policies and procedures, complete required training (including safety), and take on additional tasks as directed by the fabrication lead, fabrication manager, or branch operations manager.

What You Bring

• At least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced, multi-task production environment with tight deadlines.
• Welding background is a plus, and you’re able and willing to become certified.
• Comfortable with basic arithmetic (whole numbers and decimals) and skilled at reading a tape measure in inch increments.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting, blueprint reading, and setting up welding for production work.

• Rotary chop saw and band saw

• Threader; Mercury or Pace make-on machine
• Band saw for threaded rod; bench grinder
• Pneumatic staple gun; pneumatic bander
• Forklift (as needed)
• MIG welder, manual grinder, manual plasma cutter
