Job Summary:
The Paver/Landscape Installer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of hardscape and landscape features such as patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, garden beds, and more. The role requires working with a variety of materials, including pavers, natural stone, bricks, concrete, and landscaping plants. The position requires knowledge of landscaping techniques, proper material handling, and an eye for design to ensure a high-quality finished product.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardscape Installation :
- Install pavers, stone pathways, patios, driveways, and retaining walls.
- Measure and lay out project areas accurately, ensuring proper alignment, slope, and drainage.
- Excavate and prepare the ground for installation by leveling soil, adding gravel or sand, and compacting surfaces.
- Cut and shape pavers and stones to fit specific designs.
- Ensure that all surfaces are level and stable to prevent settling over time.
Landscape Installation :
- Plant shrubs, flowers, trees, and other greenery as per design plans.
- Install and maintain irrigation systems and other water features.
- Place mulch, decorative stones, and other elements to enhance the aesthetics of the landscape.
- Assist with sod installation and turf care.
Site Preparation :
- Prepare the site by clearing debris, rocks, and unwanted vegetation.
- Dig trenches for planting, irrigation lines, or hardscape features.
- Ensure proper soil preparation for plants, including adding fertilizers and conditioners.
Safety and Maintenance :
- Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Clean up job sites at the end of each project, including removing debris and leftover materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on hardscape installations as needed.
Customer Interaction :
- Communicate with clients to understand their vision, offer suggestions, and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while on site.
Quality Control :
- Inspect the quality of work regularly to ensure it meets industry standards and customer expectations.
- Address any issues with installations or landscape designs in a timely manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience : Prior experience in landscaping, hardscaping, or construction is preferred.
- Physical Stamina : Ability to lift heavy materials, dig, bend, and work for long hours in varying weather conditions.
- Knowledge of Tools and Equipment : Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and machinery like excavators, compactors, and saws.
- Attention to Detail : Ability to accurately measure and install hardscaping materials to ensure quality and precision.
- Landscape Design : Basic understanding of landscape design principles and the ability to follow blueprints or plans.
- Problem-Solving : Ability to assess site conditions and resolve installation challenges.
- Communication : Good communication skills for interacting with customers, supervisors, and team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification : Certification in landscaping or hardscaping is a plus (e.g., ICPI, NCMA, or other relevant certifications).
- Driver’s License : A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are often required for traveling to job sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, kneeling, and lifting for extended periods.
