About the Role
Position Summary
The Procurement Manager will lead procurement activities for raw materials and oversee MRO purchases. It's also expected for this position to maintain the database for procurement transactional information and provide monthly reports of procurement performance, forecast of prices, and budget. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep industry knowledge, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships along with internal stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials used in flavor and fragrance production.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions with suppliers, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations, aiming to reduce total cost of ownership.
- Monitor market trends, supply chain risks, price fluctuations, and geopolitical issues to optimize purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to align procurement activities with business needs.
- Analyze procurement data, prepare reports, and present insights to senior management.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to ethical standards and sustainability goals.
- Manage and mentor junior procurement staff as needed.
About You
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement / purchasing.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Solid knowledge of how procurement works.
- Strong networking, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Proficiency with SAP.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience purchasing raw materials for the flavor, fragrance, and/or chemical industry is advantageous.
- Experience with data analysis tools (i.e. MicroStrategy, Power BI, etc.).
- Experience with global sourcing and supplier management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in the flavor and fragrance sector.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and ethical sourcing.
