IQ Fiber is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the Controller in overseeing all accounting operations. This role will lead key aspects of the monthly close, audit, and reporting processes while managing a team. This is a high-visibility role with significant growth opportunity, designed for a candidate who can develop into the Controller position in the future as the company continues to scale. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Supervise and develop members of the Accounting team, providing guidance, training, and performance management
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Support Finance and the Controller in delivering timely and accurate internal and external financial reporting
- Lead key aspects of the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit schedules
- Implement and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures, and support ongoing process improvements
- Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance and operational teams to support budgeting, reforecasting, and business initiatives
- Assist in the optimization of accounting systems and processes as the company scales
- Stay current on accounting standards and regulatory requirements, particularly as they relate to the telecommunications industry
- Assist with the integration and accounting treatment of potential future M&A
- Assist with other ad hoc projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA required).
- 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, telecommunication industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Strong technical accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system is required.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- A well-managed and efficient close process with accurate and timely financials
- Strong, scalable accounting processes and controls
- Successful and smooth audit execution with minimal findings
- A high-performing, well-developed accounting team
- Readiness to step into the Controller role as the organization grows
