As a Water Operator, you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL , you’ll perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of a water treatment plant. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance, establishing and maintaining effective sample procedures of plant operations and effluent, and providing effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise. You’ll diagnose operating problems, make process control adjustments, direct and perform necessary corrective action. You’ll also prepare reports, collect samples, perform laboratory testing, determine proper chemical flow rates, maintain shift logs and perform other duties as required. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of you and your team.

In addition to a hiring bonus paid throughout the first year ($1500), you'll become eligible to apply for your child(ren) to be considered for attendance at The Villages Charter School. The Villages Charter School (VCS) opened in August 2000 and is one of the most successful public charter schools in Florida. In fact, VCS has been a "High Performing Charter School", earned a "School of Excellence" and has received 19 straight "A" ratings from the Florida Department of Education."

Here's what you'll need

  • Florida Water Treatment Level C or higher certification
  • Must be over 21 years of Age
  • Experience with sound safety principles and practices
  • Experience with computer operations with the ability to prepare spreadsheets and word processing documents, and enter information into maintenance management system
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Work hours include Could be a 4 day / 10-hour schedule that will be discussed in more detail at a later date.

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in water treatment processes, principles of supervision
  • Knowledge of computer day including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, data management systems and be able to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

Due to the nature of the job passing a Pre-employment physical is required to ensure candidates for this position are physically and functionally fit to perform the essential physical work functions of this safety sensitive position without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others.

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.

May work at, be located at or required to travel to water treatment plants, laboratory, warehouse or vehicle shop and sites that may be under construction. Office/Field work may include travel from site to site and exposure to computer screens/cell phone. May be exposed to heat, cold, inclement weather, noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, potentially hazardous chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, gasses or biohazards, electrical and radiant energy. May work in or with water on slippery or uneven surfaces; work in or inspect confined spaces; with machinery, heavy equipment or other moving objects; Possible exposure to insects, pets and other animals.

49,920.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

52,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $49,920.00 to $52,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
