Assistant Computer Buyer

This is much more than a job - it is a career with purpose. Assistant Buyer Summary: Liaison between buyers, vendors, stores and other departments. Monitoring competitive ads, assisting with reports; expediting orders; resolving complaints/inquiries; and performing various other administrative duties. This is a hourly position, which will report directly to the buyer assigned. Duties and Responsibilities: - Assist buyers with general questions concerning vendors, stores and other departments.
- Monitor all competitive advertising of categories assigned.
- General buying, inventory control, and transfer inventory between main distribution center and store locations, as well as, from store location to store location.
- Responsible for taking steps to detect common signs of shoplifting, theft and other security risks involving customers and coworkers and to promptly communicate potential problems to management or security.
- Perform other related position duties as assigned by the buyers and may be required to travel to store locations to perform such duties.
Required Education, Experience, and Certifications: - Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to accurately perform the above requirements.
- No prior experience is required. Prior retail experience is preferred.
Required Skills and Competencies: - Ability to read English (or another language as may be required) sufficiently to read written materials.
- Basic English language writing skills.
- Basic math skills, including addition and subtraction.
- PC experience in both IBM and Mac formats.
- Ability to grasp and lift or otherwise move goods weighing up to twenty pounds a distance of ten feet.
- Sufficient manual dexterity in at least one hand to be able to operate electronic equipment and manually complete paperwork.
- Visual ability, corrected, to be able to observe and detect signs of shoplifting or dangerous behavior.
