Senior Plumbing Engineer
Role Overview As a Senior Plumbing Engineer at Feller Engineering, you will lead the design and technical execution of complex plumbing and fire protection systems for diverse projects across South Florida. This role requires a blend of high-level technical expertise, project management, and the ability to mentor junior staff within a collaborative MEP environment. Key Responsibilities System Design: Lead the design of domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm water, and fuel gas systems for commercial, residential, and healthcare facilities. Fire Protection: Oversee the layout and specification of fire suppression systems in accordance with NFPA standards. Technical Leadership: Act as the Engineer of Record (EOR) for plumbing systems, ensuring all designs meet Florida Building Codes and local ordinances. Project Management: Manage project lifecycles from schematic design through construction administration, including site visits and shop drawing reviews. Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with mechanical, electrical, and structural teams to ensure integrated building system solutions. Mentorship: Provide guidance and quality control reviews for junior engineers and designers. Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Florida (or ability to obtain via comity). Experience: 10+ years of experience in MEP consulting, specifically focused on plumbing and fire protection systems. Software Proficient: Advanced skills in Revit MEP and AutoCAD; experience with hydraulic calculation software (e.g., HydraCAD or Pipe-Flo). Expertise: Deep understanding of the Florida Plumbing Code and ASPE standards. Preferred Skills LEED AP or CPD (Certified Plumbing Designer) credentials. Strong communication skills for client-facing meetings and municipal presentations. Experience with high-rise residential or large-scale hospitality projects.
