Lab Technician

Cancer Specialists of North Florida is recruiting for an experienced Lab Technician for our busy Southside Office. The Lab Technician is responsible for the collecting and processing of specimens from patients documenting results according to established procedures. This position assists with performing specimen analysis, instrument maintenance, and quality procedures as indicated while following quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

1. Collects viable and appropriate specimens from patients as ordered.
2. Maintains proper documentation as described by the quality assurance program including accessioning logs, tests report logs, quality control logs, equipment records and checklists
3. Performs specimen analysis of all chemistry, hematology, and immunology specimens as directed
4. Maintains adequate inventory of supplies and ensures that all supplies are viable before using in patient testing
5. Assists with testing procedures according to procedure guidelines; sends specimens to reference laboratories for any testing not performed in house
6. Processes incoming orders for lab testing; processes in-house and in-coming results for charging; charts patient results in a timely manner
7. Assists in training of new lab technicians
8. Update and file all daily paperwork, lab logs and maintenance logs
9. Arranges for transfusion of blood products when ordered by physicians
10. Uses equipment effectively, skillfully and efficiently; maintains equipment and work area as directed; performs testing under CLIA guidelines for personnel
11. Performs daily, weekly and monthly instrument maintenance as indicated
12. Records proper lot numbers of all controls, calibrator, and reagents
13. Identifies troubleshooting procedures and calls technical services as needed
14. Implements and complies with safety and quality assurance standards; complies with regulatory agency standards
15. Adheres to all OSHA compliance laws and Universal Precaution procedures
16. Maintains a clean working environment and restocks the laboratory area as needed
17. Performs phlebotomy and sample collection procedures as needed
18. Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff
19. All other duties as assigned

Full-time Position, Monday Friday

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Minimum of three years' experience in a laboratory
