Coordinator International Orientation
New Student and Family Engagement is comprised of three offices, the Offices of Orientation, New Student Connections and Parent and Family Engagement, and is a part of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students staff within Student Success. These units strive to advance the mission of the university by providing a seamless transition for all incoming students and families to ensure their successful entrance, navigation, and participation in a full college experience. The departments cultivate community, foster a sense of belonging, and provide individualized support aimed at assisting in the successful transition of new students and their families. Understanding the developmental needs and readiness of students and families, the departments provide support, programs, and communication to enhance the student and family experience. The units assist students and families with navigating campus resources and policies, communicating timely campus resources and deadlines, and helping to mitigate barriers that prevent student success. The staff under these units seek to introduce new students and families to people and resources in the university setting. They will provide the next steps in the enrollment process regarding academic overviews and program content, course registration and establishing an identity within the academic program. They will engage students in peer-to-peer teaching and learning while also providing a transformational experience for student leaders employed within the departments. All team members seek to unite new students under the privilege and responsibility of being USF Bulls.
Student Success Initiatives, 25%
• Develop strategic initiatives around new undergraduate student demographics (First Year, Transfer and/or International students) success issues to improve the impact of Orientation and influence student success. • Assists in the design and execution of curriculum for programs/services that support USF’s new student and family experience. • Oversee and manage content development and delivery with campus partners • Facilitate prospective student and orientation presentations both in-person and virtually. Oversee contributions to the unit’s showcase experience and evening activities during Orientation sessions. • Partner with Assistant Dean/Director and Orientation professional staff for session caps, total numbers, assessment efforts, and overall Orientation session needs. • Assist unit through ongoing support for programs led by other staff members.
Supervision, 45%
• Assist with recruitment, selection, training of student leader team. • Co-supervise a team of 40-50 students leaders with unit Program Coordinators, and may supervise an undergraduate or graduate intern(s). • Provide project management oversight of initiatives led by team to ensure desired program and student-learning outcomes are met. • Advise leaders on strategies to coach students with making a successful transition into the university, creating and managing goals pertaining to their educational, personal, and career-ready experiences and degree progression. • Meet regularly, one-on-one and in groups, with direct reports to provide personal development and career readiness advising. • Assist with development of year-round training curriculum for peer leaders utilizing senior leaders as teaching assistants and peer mentors. • Assist supervisor with projecting budgetary needs and monitoring expenditures. • When Orientation programming dictates, in partnership with Orientation Leaders living in the residence halls over the summer, supervise the Orientation overnight experience.
Internal and External Relations, 30%
• Coordinate and facilitate external and internal presentations and showcase requests, as well as overall external department representation in Orientation programs. • In partnership with other Orientation Program Coordinators, supervise all aspects of Orientation; both in-person, live synchronous, and asynchronous modalities and be present for session activities and programs. • Maintain partnerships with departments supporting unit initiatives, including but not limited to: Academic Advocacy, Academic Success Center, Academic Colleges, Athletics, Center for Student Involvement, Campus Recreation, Registrar, Financial Aid, USF World, Undergraduate Studies, Student Support Services, Housing and Residential Education, New Student Connections, Parent & Family Engagement, ID Card Center, USF Dining, Student Government, Student Health Service, Office of Transfer Student Success, Office of Veterans Success • Support customer care and troubleshooting for new students and families as it relates to their transition into the university. • Represent the unit on university committees, as a representative at designated meetings, and in professional organizations/associations. • Serve as a consultant for the campus community on matters involving the transitional experience of new students and their families. • Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the goals of the unit.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of one year related experience. Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends is required.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.- Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate ( is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.
- SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements
- A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:

- (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
- (c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
- (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or
- (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree
- Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
- Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field (earn prior to start date) with 1-3 years of related experience. Experience working in a university setting is preferred, especially with new students, families and/or orientation programs.
