Job Summary

The Senior Pipe Stress Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, and reviewing Plant Design & Piping (PD&P) work, including pipe stress analysis, design documentation, and engineering estimates. This role provides technical leadership, resolves complex piping and stress-related issues, and ensures all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.

Job Description

• Lead or administer the work of PD&P designers and drafters, including preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, and construction drawings
• Develop designs for complex PD&P engineering systems with minimal supervision, including earthwork, drainage, road design, foundations, and steel detailing
• Assist in the construction of detailed scale models
• Prepare or assist with material requisitions and bid evaluations
• Monitor and review work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to ensure quality, safety, and construction economy
• Ensure PD&P system designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
• Participate in constructability reviews
• Plan, develop, coordinate, and review design work within a small PD&P design group on medium-sized projects or assignments supporting global business units
• Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design scope and standards
• Coordinate and interface with PD&P engineers, specialists, designers, and drafters on day-to-day technical activities
• Prepare or oversee PD&P design estimates and work plans aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget, and manage performance accordingly

Skills Required

• 5–14 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
• Prior experience using pipe stress analysis software, including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE

Education/Training/Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or international equivalent)

Additional Requirements

• Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
• Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
• Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns—including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries –are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
• Prior experience using pipe stress analysis programs including ME101 and/or Bentley AutoPIPE.
