Landscape Maintenance Laborer
Merion Landscape Services is a rapidly expanding company that values hard work, dependability, and leadership. We are currently seeking a Landscape Laborer to perform routine manual labor in the maintenance and beautification of municipal parks, roadways, public facilities, and landscaped areas. This position supports city/county grounds maintenance operations throughout the greater Tampa Bay area and ensures public spaces remain safe, clean, and visually appealing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Mow, edge, trim, and maintain turf areas in parks, medians, and municipal properties
Operate hand tools and power equipment such as string trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, chain saws, and zero-turn mowers
Remove litter, debris, and fallen limbs from public grounds
Apply mulch, soil, and other landscaping materials
Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials
Assist with storm cleanup and emergency response efforts, including hurricane preparation and debris removal
Follow all safety procedures in accordance with city/county policies and OSHA guidelines
Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of landscaping techniques and grounds maintenance practices
Ability to operate landscaping equipment safely and efficiently
Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, and rainy weather conditions typical of Central Florida
Ability to lift up to 50–75 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Strong work ethic and reliability
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Valid Florida driver’s license (or ability to obtain within specified timeframe)
Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or manual labor preferred but not required
Must pass background screening and drug test in accordance with municipal hiring policies
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to heat, humidity, insects, and seasonal weather conditions
Exposure to loud equipment noise
May require early morning hours, occasional weekends, or emergency storm response shifts
