This is an advanced software development position within the Information Technology Department (ITD). It is for one (1) ITD Senior Software Developer to support Water & Sewer's (WASD) PeopleSoft ERP implementation. The ERP implementation at Water & Sewer has over 1,000 users and supports all financial functions including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, purchasing, budget, project costing, etc. It enables WASD to leverage best practices for financial processes, meet County financial and statutory requirements, and efficiently deliver greater visibility via online inquiry, query, and/or reporting into critical business information.

The position entails working on complex assignments that will extend the delivered functionality of the PeopleSoft ERP system to better match the business needs of the organization and provide a more efficient experience for the users of the system. The assignments may include integrations with other systems - both internal and external to the county; development of report, charts, and queries that organize, summarize and present data that satisfy a set of requirements; modifications to online pages that can both simplify data entry and better validate the data; system extensions that add records, screens, and business processes that do not exist in the base ERP system but can leverage the tools and data that are part of ERP; setting up and maintaining workflows that notify staff of business activities which require their attention and/or approval; analyzing system failures & performance issues and develop the problem resolution; participating in system upgrade projects.

Experience with the following is preferred:

• Analysis, architect/design, and development of server tier object-oriented software/application solutions
• Managing projects throughout the system development life cycle
• Writing comprehensive technical design specifications and support documentation
• Database design and store procedures development

The job entails accounting/procurement business practices, problem-solving, and mentoring/guiding junior staff. This position will work closely with customers from multiple and distinct areas; analyze, and document existing business processes and requirements.
