Accountant (General Ledger & Financial Reporting)

Full-Time | On-Site | Approximately 6-Month Assignment

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Position Overview

In this role, you will support key accounting operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, and compliance for a healthcare organization and its affiliates. This position requires strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 3–6 years of accounting experience
• At least 3 years of hands-on general ledger accounting experience (or combination of GL and public audit experience)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
• Experience working with general ledger accounting systems
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and adaptable

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare or nonprofit accounting
• Experience with Workday accounting software
• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains), FRx, or Management Reporter

Essential Functions

• Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
• Prepare financial statements, bank reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Record and analyze payroll and cash receipts activity
• Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and work-in-process subledgers
• Prepare and monitor accruals (Workers’ Compensation, Room & Board, Inpatient, etc.)
• Support Federal, State, and Local grant reporting and compliance requirements
• Assist with tax filings, cost reports, and regulatory reporting
• Contribute to annual budget preparation and financial planning
• Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors
• Review contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment (including fund accounting and trusts)
• Provide quality assurance for general ledger activity and coding accuracy
• Maintain and support general ledger systems and financial reporting tools
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and grantors to ensure accurate and timely reporting
