Job Summary:

The TechnologyTrainer is an individual that has an understanding of educational theory and practice. They also understand how technology is situated in the workflow of clinicians and others within healthcare. As such, they will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of training of technology in all forms: classroom, virtual, and printed aides. The Epic Technology Trainer works closely with the technology training team to maintain course curricula and supporting training materials for their application. Responsible for testing, and maintaining the training environment, managing updates to policy and procedure documentation related to training, conducting training for new staff, and coordinating training for software upgrades and updates; ensuring at all times, team members have a positive learning experience in Organizational Learning. As part of ongoing improvement, the Techonolgy Trainer will provide routine evaluation of learning programs.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Use Adult Learning Theory to deliver training
  • Prepares classroom including setting up the training environment and other logistics.
  • Delivers standardized, instructor led, training curriculum to Providers, clinical and non-clinical staff.
  • Conducts engaging and effective training sessions for diverse audiences
  • Performs attendance and competency assessment tracking after each class as indicated
  • Completes required documentation related to class session.
  • Assesses training needs before, during and after each class.
  • Makes necessary adjustments to training delivery based on student and training team feedback.
  • Provides facility/unit/department based training session as indicated
  • Provides site based, ad hoc elbow training as necessary
Use Adult Learning theory to assist with the development of World Class technology training
  • Assists with the development of role-based training programs to support the workflows to be implemented.
  • Assists with the development of e-Learning modules as necessary to support the overall training strategy.
  • Coordinates training logistics (courses, classrooms, registrations, timeframes, etc.) in collaboration with the other members of the project team, and department managers.
  • Prepares training materials used during training sessions.
Go-Live Support
  • Supports end-users onsite during go-live events.
  • Provides demonstrations of system functionality as necessary.
Administrative Support
  • Provides administrative and training support to the Organizational Learning leadership team to assure administrative processes are completed. i.e. reports, surveys, template development and other functions related to the delivery of world class education and operational excellence.
Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required Required and Associate's Degree Preferred or Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Credentialed in an Epic application. If not credentialed, must attend and successfully complete all aspects of the Trainer Credentialing Program conducted by Epic Trainers within 3 months of employment. Upon Hire Required

Required Minimum Experience:

Exposure to and knowledge of healthcare, clinical practice settings and clinical workflow in a hospital setting, is strongly preferred Preferred and Experience as a instructor, educator or facilitator of learning programs is also strongly preferred. Preferred and If not, must complete WellStar Educator Immersion program within 3 months of employement and successfully complete all aspects of the training Required

Required Minimum Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be organized and have the ability to analyze and trouble shoot problems This individual must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work as part of a team Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of project management tools, methodologies and techniques Ability to multi-task is essential, as is the ability to function in stressful and emergency situations Strong detail orientation and time management skills are required Knowledge of clinical practice settings and clinical workflow in a hospital setting are preferred. Requires the ability provide training during all shifts and hours and be on call to perform ad hoc education for clinicians as needed
