Job Title: Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

This role oversees in-process and final product inspections on the production floor and in the quality control area, with a strong focus on visual and physical inspections. The inspector performs receiving inspections of incoming products in the warehouse, verifies compliance with quality standards, and ensures accurate documentation of all inspection activities in accordance with regulated procedures and quality management system requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving inspections for incoming products in the warehouse, including checking packaging, verifying product condition, and confirming documentation against specifications.
  • Conduct visual and physical inspections of in-process products on the production floor, including measuring items, checking thickness, and verifying conformance to established standards.
  • Carry out final (finished goods) inspections by lot, ensuring products meet all quality requirements before release.
  • Review and approve batch records from production staff, confirming completeness, accuracy, and compliance with procedures.
  • Perform work-in-progress (WIP) internal inspections and approvals by lot, documenting findings and ensuring traceability.
  • Coordinate quality control testing with external laboratories, track lots sent for testing, and review and approve test results by lot.
  • Inspect raw material components based on manufacturer documentation and specifications, and approve or reject materials as appropriate.
  • Review, follow, and help maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they reflect current practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all quality-related documentation, including inspection records, batch records, and test reports, remains accurate, complete, and up to date.
  • Review customer complaint samples, participate in root cause analysis, and document findings and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with management on non-conformance reports (NCRs) related to product failures in the field, supporting investigations and corrective actions.
  • Play a key role in the quality management system (QMS) by supporting process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all quality control procedures and regulatory standards, including cGMP and ISO requirements.
  • Use measuring tools such as calipers, thickness gauges, micrometers, and calibrated rulers to perform precise measurements.
  • Enter inspection data and results into computer systems or tablets accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate inspection results and quality issues clearly to cross-functional teams, including production and management.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of quality inspection experience.
  • Experience performing physical inspections of products and maintaining inspection and batch records.
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as calipers, thickness gauges, micrometers, and calibrated rulers.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in inspection and documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including production and quality personnel.
  • Computer documentation experience, including entering and managing inspection data.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, with familiarity with quality control software considered a plus.
  • Experience working in cGMP or ISO-regulated environments (e.g., cGMP, ISO 9001).
  • Experience working with lot numbers and batch records.
  • Experience with SOPs and adherence to documented procedures.
  • Prior work inspection and quality assurance (QA) or quality control (QC) environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with visual inspection of products in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with blueprints or product specifications for inspection purposes.
  • Experience using tablets or similar devices for recording inspection data.
  • Exposure to quality management systems and continuous improvement activities.
  • Comfort working with calibrated tools and equipment in a regulated environment.

Work Environment

The role is based in an indoor manufacturing and warehouse environment. Approximately 80% of the workday takes place in a non-air-conditioned warehouse performing receiving inspections, checking packaging, taking measurements, and entering product information on a tablet. The remaining 20% of the time is spent in an air-conditioned production area conducting in-process inspections, including measuring items, checking thickness, and performing visual inspections. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment involves regular use of measuring tools and computer systems in a hands-on, production-focused setting.

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $41600.00/yr.
