Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for assisting in researching, developing, implementing and monitoring all laws, rules and regulations related to the Florida Rider Training Program (FRTP), Driver Education Licensing Assistance (DELAP) Program and Third Party Administrators (TPA). The incumbent in this position will serve regulatory oversight between the Department, TPAA’s, motorcycle safety schools and DELAP Program, to include RiderCoaches, Instructors and Examiners. This position will also be responsible for conducting training, audits, site visits, and providing guidance on laws and procedures.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to plan, organize and direct program activities.
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult education and training and development techniques.
  • Skill communicating effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, training documents, policies, procedures, and other written materials.
  • Knowledge of procedures for operating motor vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, mopeds, motorized scooters, and three-wheeled specialty motor vehicles.
  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply state and federal motor vehicle laws.
  • Skill in customer service and public relations, including exercising tact, diplomacy, and patience with a diverse group of individuals.
    Ability to speak in front of groups and make effective presentations.
  • Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements, determining key issues and developing solutions.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance practices and principles.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations to the improvement of operational and administrative practices.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with minimal supervision.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Knowledge, skill, or experience in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional work experience analyzing information or documents for compliance with laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures.
  • Professional work experience performing customer service duties, including handling complaints and problem-resolution.
  • Professional work experience preparing reports and/or presentations.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • The selected applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires you to obtain a motorcycle endorsement on your Florida driver license and Rider Coach Certification within one year of employment.
  • This position requires you to work in both controlled, indoor environments as well as outdoors (exposed to weather).
  • This position requires you to perform work activities within enclosed vehicles or equipment.
  • This position requires you to spend time walking, as well as bending and twisting your body to enter vehicles/equipment.
  • This position requires lifting equipment of up to 100 lbs.
  • This position requires frequent overnight and extended travel.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
