Equipment Operator
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate machines like bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, rollers, forklifts, loaders, graders, and other specialized equipment used for digging, installing utilities, moving material, compacting, grading, etc.
- Inspect equipment before use to ensure it's in good working condition, including checking fluid levels, tires, and overall mechanical condition.
- Perform routine maintenance like cleaning, greasing, and basic repairs.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure that the work area is safe, well-marked, and free of hazards.
- Adhere to regulations and guidelines for safe equipment operation.
- Prepare job sites by clearing, demolition, hauling debris and/ or leveling ground.
- Follow project plans and blueprints to execute tasks accurately.
- Load and unload trucks and other vehicles as needed.
- Clean and maintain equipment after use.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues with equipment, performing basic repairs or maintenance.
- Follow project timelines and work efficiently to ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
- Ability to read building plans related to structural concrete and land grades.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Vocational school training or apprenticeship preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
