Visium Resources has been asked to identify qualified candidates for this Desktop Support Technician position. This position is a contract to hire opportunity which is expected to be on-site for a contract period of approximately four months prior to direct hire conversion.

Summary
The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for providing technical assistance to computer users, answering complex technology questions, and resolving computer problems for clients in person or via telephone if from remote locations. Will provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and peripherals as well as client-based software.

Job Description:

1. Maintains and repairs equipment trouble shooting, repairing or replacing components, adjusting settings as needed, and testing within the company's network to ensure satisfactory operation.
2. Configures and installs computer and peripheral equipment such as desktop computers, laptop computers, printers, basic telecommunications equipment, and installs client software.
3. Uses test equipment, tools, supplies and materials that are standard for desktop support personnel.
4. Confers with senior management in the resolution of procedural or technical matters.
5. Provides technical support to staff as needed in the use of client computer systems.
6. Assists staff in understanding fundamental operation of computers and peripheral equipment.
7. Complies with work schedule and attendance requirements according to reasonable policy and practices.
8. Reads trade magazines and attends computer trade shows to obtain current information about technology trends.
9. Actively monitor alerts and events within our suite of security tools, and respond effectively to security incidents, including but not limited to, investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery.
   10. Safeguard the organization's systems, data, and infrastructure from cyber threats and unauthorized access.
   11. Monitor networks and systems for suspicious activity and potential security breaches.
   12. Ensure adherence to relevant security standards, regulations, and best practices.

OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Travel to remote locations to perform essential functions as required.
• Must be able to work some evenings and weekends and to be available on short notice to resolve problems at regional locations.
• Must be capable of working with frequent interruptions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualified candidates would have the following:

• Completion of a two year technical school or two years of college or university credits in computer system / technology.
• Strong knowledge of current computing practices, standards and equipment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft client tools (including but not limited to Office, Outlook, and Skype), as well as general networking & desktop support products
• Must possess good written and verbal communication skills as well as good technical writing skills.
• Must have the ability to manage daily work with some independence.
• Good organizational skills are required.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, have an exemplary driving record, and personal vehicle that may be used for local travel.

EXPERIENCE:

• One to two years of work experience in the area of desktop support across multiple operating systems as well as networking, telecommunications and client software support.
• Must demonstrate the ability to remain positive when encountering adverse situations that may arise during troubleshooting delivery.
