DESCRIPTION
This is managerial work planning, supervising, or coordinating activities of a social service or community outreach program. Incumbents manage the program or organization's budget and policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements, and benefits. Work may involve managing an organization of social workers, counselors, or probation officers.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Confers and consults with individuals, groups, and committees to determine needs and plans in order to recommend implementing, and extending organization's programs and services.
Manages organizational policies, defines scope of services offered, and the administration of procedures.
Establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in community to meet and not duplicate community needs and services.
Manages public relations.
Researches and analyzes member or community needs as basis for community development.
Manages all or most aspects of program activities to serve clients of agency.
Prepares, distributes, and maintains records and reports, such as budgets, personnel records, or administrative documents necessary to the operation of the organization.
Speaks to community groups to explain and interpret agency purpose, programs, and policies.
Administers fiscal operations, such as planning budgets, authorizing expenditures and coordinating financial reporting.
Develops organizational policies and procedures and establishes evaluative or operational criteria.
Supervises the establishment of work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
Prepares the status reporting of programs,services, and quality initiatives.
Recruits, hires, and evaluates the performance of program staff and auxiliary personnel.
Reviews and analyzes organizational activities and data to aid planning and to improve service utilization.
Consults with professional, business, and community groups to discuss service problems, coordinate activities and plans, and promote community and social service programs.
Develops or supervises the design of instructional materials and in-service training for employees and the community.
Inspects programs for emergency readiness and compliance of access and safety regulations and recommends operational modifications.
Provides technical assistance to other agencies regarding community and social services.
