Vaco Staffing is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to serve as a top financial executive for a growing organization. This position oversees all aspects of the company’s financial operations — including treasury management, planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and funding strategies

The Assistant Controller will act as a key strategic advisor to ownership, ensuring financial readiness, operational efficiency, and data integrity across the business. This role will play a pivotal part in driving accountability, improving processes, and leveraging analytics to support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Treasury Management

• Oversee daily cash position, ACHs, wires, and fraud prevention protocols

• Manage all loans, lines of credit, and related funding and paydowns

Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Prepare and present financial statements and tax returns to ownership and lenders

• Coordinate annual external audits and prepare supporting tax schedules

General Ledger Oversight

• Review and maintain balance sheet, cash, and loan accounts

• Supervise AR/AP managers, payroll, prepaids, deposits, merchant services, loss prevention, unbilled revenue, COGS, and tax accruals

• Maintain and optimize the accounting system ( Business Central ) for accuracy and efficiency

Cross-Department Collaboration

• Partner with executive leadership, IT, HR, and legal teams on financial and operational initiatives

• Support IT and software development projects to enhance financial systems and reporting processes

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)

• CPA or CMA certification (preferred)

• 7 years experience of proven financial and managerial expertise with demonstrated leadership ability

• In-depth understanding of GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local financial regulations

• Hands-on, “roll-up-your-sleeves” approach with strong service orientation

• Experience with project management and software implementation

• Familiarity with systems such as Business Central, Concur, TriumphPay, Highway, Paylocity, Synergize, and Power BI is a major plus
