Staff Accountant (Construction)

Our client is in search of an experienced Staff Accountant to manage general accounting operations for their Heavy Civil Construction Company. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles, and meticulous attention to detail to guarantee accurate reporting across all areas. Job Responsibilities: - Support monthly closing processes, provide general accounting support, and assist with annual audits.
- Perform full cycle certified payroll.
- Handle Accounts Payable tasks and assist with weekly check runs.
- Complete NTOs, lien releases, certificates of insurance request, and manage subcontractor administration processes.
- Maintain a comprehensive database of COI's/W9's for Vendors and Subcontractors.
- Oversee monthly credit cards transactions, including verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions, and resolving discrepancies.
- Work with the Contract Administrator and Controller to process monthly billings.
- Execute job setups in Foundation SoRware.
- Assist with general office support including filing, phone support, office supplies management, etc.
- Dedication to continuously improving the automa8on of the accounting and reporting processes.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in accounting or a creditable certification in the field
- 3 - 5 years of accounting experience
- 3 years of specific experience working in the construction industry
- Proficient in Certified Payroll processes
- Experience with the following systems/software is preferred: QuickBooks, Foundation Accounting Software, MS Office (especially Excel), and Dropbox
- Thorough understanding of internal control and compliance
- Demonstrated analytical skills, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
