Vital Orthopedic & Spine Institute in Fort Lauderdale, FL is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Surgical Coordinator to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you'll be the backbone of our surgical operations — ensuring patients receive seamless, compassionate care from consultation to the operating room. - Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures with hospitals, surgery centers, and surgical teams
- Obtain prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for surgical cases
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients throughout the surgical scheduling process
- Communicate with surgeons, OR staff, and facility personnel to confirm case details and logistics
- Prepare and distribute surgical preference cards, operative reports, and pre-op instructions
- Verify patient insurance benefits and coordinate financial clearance prior to procedures
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records within the EMR system
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and orthopedic/spine surgical protocols
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Coordinator, preferably in orthopedics or spine
- Strong knowledge of surgical scheduling, prior authorizations, and insurance verification
- Familiarity with orthopedic and spine surgical terminology and procedures
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and patient-facing interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or healthcare certification a plus
