Job Summary
We are looking for individuals to join our client’s team as Patient Care Program Coordinator. This role supports the day to day operations for the department which has inpatient, outpatient, classes, and other programs to manage. While I will have the lactation team support any clinical issues that arise regarding patient needs and breastfeeding, they are stretched between running a clinic and seeing patients on the floor, etc. This role would support triaging phone calls and communicating with the team when a clinical need arises; scheduling, scheduling and checking in/outpatients from the clinic, turning over clinic rooms, renting breast pumps, completing the class registration process and accepting payments from patient over the phone, keeping track of supplies, maintaining data tracking, and scheduling some meetings as needed.
Job Description
- Serves as a breastfeeding peer counselor and provides non-clinical lactation support to postpartum families
- Registers families for Parent Education classes Register parents for outpatient lactation clinic and procure payment as appropriate
- Coordinates breast pump rental station
- Maintains retail space in Parent Education department
- Performs clerical competency in a variety of secretarial duties.
- Coordinates office activities, communicating messages as needed.
- Rooms patients for breastfeeding clinic
- Prepare exam/treatment rooms with necessary supplies and equipment
- Complete necessary patient-specific paperwork as per practice needs
- Handle patient call backs relaying information per the direction of clinical lead
- Perform quality control on clinic equipment.
- Assist with Baby Friendly or alternative model designation by performing clinic audits as directed by supervisor
- Assist with preparation and maintenance of Baby Friendly or alternative model designation by providing basic education in accordance to the designation to outpatient office staff
- Assist with breastfeeding Warmline and breastfeeding support group as assigned Maintains the Breastfeeding Twistle program, by monitoring and addressing patient input and breastfeeding needs
- Maintains up to date with Delaware WIC breastfeeding education for Breastfeeding Peer Counselors
- Triages calls and yields to lactation team as needed for clinical issues
- Coordinates registration and data collection for pregnant patients wanting to enroll in the Birth Companion Program
- Maintain and stock department clinical and office supplies
- Perform other related duties as required
- Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices; reports to supervisor, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.
Skills Required
- Experience with breastfeeding support as a breastfeeding counselor or Certified Lactation Counselor or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology Knowledge of breastfeeding support and resources
- Ability to organize and complete various tasks simultaneously
- Coordinates communication between all levels of the health care team effectively, utilizing both written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates a sound knowledge base of appropriate departmental and hospital guidelines/policies.
- Operates department computer system and other equipment in an accurate and safe manner.
- Always protects the confidential basis of employee or patient information.
- Attend staff meetings and mandatory in-services. Knowledge of computer software
- Daily contact with patients, providers and clinicians, and other members of the program staff. Also interacts with outside medical offices, and other companies/organizations based on the needs of the patients and program.
- Maintains a positive attitude of helpfulness, courtesy, and cooperation toward employees, physicians, other hospital personnel, other health care providers, and the public
Education/Training/Certifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Certification Four years progressively responsible administrative support to an administrator or manager. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted but must include at least two years of appropriate experience.
Additional Requirements
- Start Time: 8 AM (40 hrs a week)

- $20.00 per hour
