Hughes Brothers Construction is now hiring! We are a heavy civil contractor specializing in large site infrastructure, underground utilities and roadway construction throughout Central Florida. Responsibilities:
- Fine grade trenches to proper elevation and slope for pipe installation
- Check and verify line and grade using lasers, grade rods, and levels
- Assist in laying storm, sanitary sewer, and water main pipe
- Ensure proper trench bedding preparation
- Communicate clearly with equipment operators using hand signals
- Maintain trench safety and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Assist with placement of manholes, inlets, and structures
- Backfill and compact around installed utilities as directed
- Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean and organized
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA trenching standards
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read grade stakes and use measuring tools
- Strong understanding of trench safety and excavation practices
- Basic knowledge of pipe installation processes
- Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
- Strong understanding of construction principles and procedures
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Out-of-town travel and/or overtime is a possibility
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- English and Spanish fluency a plus, but not required
