Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for managing the Quality Control and Review Team (QCR) within the Bureau of Commercial Vehicle and Driver Services. This section is responsible for reviewing audits of licensees and registrants under the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) and the International Registration Plan (IRP), respectively. This involves reviewing and analyzing audit reports, distance and fuel records, working papers and audit file contents to ensure they meet compliance with regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for reviewing and issuing assessment notifications to the auditee at various stages of the audit. As part of our customer outreach function, this position is also responsible for providing advice and assistance to new and existing licensees and registrants regarding proper record keeping techniques and systems and other regulatory issues concerning IFTA and IRP.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
  • Skill in auditing, reviewing, or analyzing data for compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Skill in preparing and/or reviewing written reports and communicating the findings
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Skill in using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Skill in accounting, bookkeeping, and fiscal practices
  • Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate financial data
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience reviewing, analyzing, and verifying data or information for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience reviewing written reports of analysis.
  • Experience verbally communicating analysis performed assessment results, recommendations, etc., to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in supervisory, management or leadership roles.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • This position requires overtime as needed.
  • Limited travel is required for this position.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
