Director of Traffic Safety and Transportation

The Director of Traffic Safety and Transportation role at the World Equestrian Center Ocala is responsible for overseeing all aspects of valet parking, traffic safety management, and transportation services throughout the campus. In addition, this position leads and directs the Valet Parking, Traffic Safety, and Transportation team members, providing guidance, training, instructions, and support to ensure that all staff members uphold the highest standards of safety and service. This role involves collaborating with other departments and strategic planning to ensure safe and efficient operations during large events. As a key leadership role, the Director must foster a culture of Quality, Class, and Distinction by delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring the department personnel consistently exceed guest expectations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training department team members
  • Provide ongoing training to ensure the team meets safety and service standards
  • Manage all valet ticketing systems, key control, and damage documentation processes
  • Respond promptly to guest concerns or vehicle incidents with discretion and professionalism
  • Provide the department with clear instructions and support during events
  • Develop and manage work schedules to ensure adequate coverage
  • Adjust daily staffing as needed, extending or shortening shifts based on event demand
  • Monitor traffic flow, identify potential bottlenecks, and mitigate obstructions
  • Oversee department payroll and ensure accurate timekeeping
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and handle corrective actions to maintain team standards
  • Respond to emails promptly, coordinating logistics and providing updates
  • Manage the procurement and inventory of department supplies
  • Collaborate with other departments on event logistics and attend event planning meetings
  • Maintain accountability for departmental budgets, valet revenue, labor forecasting, and tip pooling SOP
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of luxury and high-performance vehicles
  • Stay informed about daily events, parking locations, and ideal traffic patterns
  • Manage WEC property tours and transportation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Associates may be required to stand, walk, run short distances, reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long hours and in various types of weather.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, Skills, And Abilities

  • 3+ years in a managerial role related to parking, traffic management, loss prevention, and/or event operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stay calm and decisive under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Technological proficiency (valet software, Microsoft suite, mobile apps)
  • Professional appearance and demeanor always required
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed based on events calendar and expected business volumes
