Job Summary and Qualifications

Job Summary:

Responsible for coordination of the day-to-day operations of the hospital. Specific responsibilities include: Performance Improvement; enforcing policies and procedures; staffing/productivity; and nursing care for specific patient populations. Works closely with staff, physicians, and other directors to ensure quality patient care. Guides staff in the implementation of the nursing process and directs the cost effective allocation of resources.

What you will do in this role:

• Maintains current knowledge of health care trends and nursing practice.

• Serves as lead house supervisor and assists with house Supervision department operations

• Serves as clinical consultant and role model for staff in the delivery of patient care and demonstrates effective leadership and care in emergency situations.

• Direct supervision of PRN pool staff and sitter pool - operations, scheduling,

• Provides leadership and direction for staffing in accordance with the organizational goals and objectives as it pertains to House Supervision, Bed Management, PRN pool, Discharge Center

• Oversees all nursing schedules and assists with Kronos as needed.

• Incorporates population specific national standards of nursing practice and care.

• Assumes authority, accountability and responsibility for the formal and informal direction of others for assigned departments.

• Demonstrates the ability to create, initiate, and integrate new concepts and practices to improve nursing care and/or employee satisfaction. Demonstrates receptiveness to and leads the implementation of change/new ideas.

• Uses measurement and analysis with objectivity and foresight to make decisions.

• Uses a systematic problem-solving process to make sound decisions in a timely manner

• Accepts and makes changes based on constructive criticism.

• Organizes, directs, and staffs assigned departments/services in a manner commensurate with the scope of services offered and in collaboration with the appropriate department Director.

• Participates in recruitment activities, plans daily coverage according to patient needs and personnel ability, makes provisions to cover emergency situations and recommends changes in master staffing plan in accordance with identified needs of the department(s).

What qualifications you will need:

• Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate's Degree required; BSN preferred

• 3-5+ years of related experience; acute care or specialty nursing experience as appropriate

• FL RN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 90 days of hire.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

• Basic Cardiac Life Support

HCA Florida Poinciana Hospital is a purpose-guided healthcare provider. We are a four-story, 150,000-square-foot hospital. We have 70 private beds and a six-bed private ICU. We provide a full range of acute care services including emergency services, inpatient and outpatient diagnostic imaging, and inpatient and outpatient surgery. Other services include cardiac catheterization, laboratory, pharmacy, and a full range of support services. Our Emergency Department (ED) is approximately 14,500 square feet. Our ED consists of 22 private treatment rooms, an EMS entrance, and a helicopter pad.
