Grants Writer/Administrator
Position Summary:
This highly responsible position includes researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals to acquire funding, and working with our leadership team to ensure we have enough capital each year. Ultimately, you will work with our leadership team to understand our financial needs and ensure we attain funding. The position also fosters cooperative working relationships among City departments, divisions, and with intergovernmental and regulatory agencies and various public and private groups; and performs related work as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Grant Writing:- Study and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs and financial needs of the organization.
 - Research grant opportunities from government and non-government agencies.·
 - Provide training to new staff about funding procedures and regulations
 - Manage all grant applications, from writing and submission to reporting and compliance
 - Coordinate with departments to gather information necessary for grant proposals
 - Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the organization.
 - Submit proposals to grant coordinators for approval.
 - Respond to internal and external queries on drafted and submitted proposals.
 - Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
 - Maintain records and submit reports related to grant opportunities.
 
 Grant Administration: 
- Assist Project Manager with special projects and performs a range of tasks such as procurement, invoicing, project elements, and reporting needs.
 - Works with the Grant Accountant by reviewing the financial data and project costs (e.g. project budgets, funding sources) for cost control purposes, as identified in the awarded grants.
 - Prepare financial or budget plans and allocation along with the planning and finance department.
 - Review the records of all payments and receivables.
 - Prepare monthly reports for all grant related activities by benchmarks.
 - Assist in auditing of grant expenses and ensure compliance with regulations.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proven work experience as a Grant Writer or similar role.
 - Proficient with measuring and reaching income goals.
 - Great with MS Office Word and Excel.
 - Excellent knowledge of fundraising information sources.
 - Exceptional organizational and writing skills.
 - Excellent communication skills to liaise with donors, stakeholders, and grant recipients.
 - Deep understanding of grant application processes, budgeting, and financial reporting.
 - Financial management skills to effectively oversee and manage grant funds, ensuring that they are being used appropriately and reporting on their usage.
 - Attention to detail to ensure all grant applications, reports, and documentation are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
 
 Education and/or Experience: 
- Bachelor’s degree in creative writing or related field.
 - Two years of progressive experience in grant writing, public policy, or project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Acceptable eyesight, hearing (with or without correction).
 - Work is performed in a standard office environment.
 - Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
