Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant
Position Overview
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to join a public accounting firm that supports a diverse client base. This is a temp to perm opportunity with a valued client of ours. In this role, you will handle routine accounting functions, maintain financial records, support reporting activities, and assist with payroll tax compliance while ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain general ledger accounts for a portfolio of clients
- Record daily financial transactions, prepare journal entries, and perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Support monthly and annual closing activities
- Produce and review financial reports and statements
- Prepare, submit, and reconcile payroll tax filings, with a focus on Form 941
- Collaborate with clients to address accounting and payroll-related inquiries
- Maintain well-organized client records and provide support to senior accounting staff as needed
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred, but not mandatory)
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, ideally within a public accounting environment
- Solid knowledge of general ledger processes and account reconciliations
- Experience handling payroll tax reporting, including Form 941 filings
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, along with strong Excel skills
- Excellent organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to meet multiple deadlines
