Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Wherry Truck Lines, Inc. (WTL) is a dynamic company specializing in land clearing and logging operations. As we expand our facility from 10,000 to 30,000 square feet, we are seeking skilled Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, servicing, and maintaining our fleet of heavy-duty equipment. This position requires a strong background in diesel engine repair and diagnosis, a commitment to safety, and the ability to relocate to Fort Myers, FL. Please note, relocation assistance is not provided.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, and repair engines and equipment at job sites.
- Perform diagnostic tests to identify issues with damaged systems and parts.
- Repair and retrofit engines, adjust steering brakes, change hydraulic fluid, and replace worn-out parts.
- Repair diesel engines, including replacing clutches, water pumps, turbos, alternators, brakes, and HVAC systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot various types of heavy equipment such as Doosan and Volvo excavators, Volvo front end loaders, Volvo articulated haulers, etc.
- Diagnose and repair electrical system failures/problems as they occur.
- Inspect, repair, and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves, and systems.
Qualifications
- Ability to troubleshoot issues on the job site.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proven work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment technician.
- Understanding of computer testing technologies.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment.
- Good communication skills.
