_Teacher, Academy Bible (FLA)
FLA is seeking a full-time Bible teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The school is looking for a dedicated and innovative teacher to help guide students to develop a personal relationship with Jesus and make a commitment to serve and love others. This teacher will join a core, four-member Bible team that fosters student spiritual life in the classrooms and on the campus as a whole. The ideal candidate will be passionate about young people and willing to collaborate with the school administration and other teachers and colleagues to create opportunities for students to grow spiritually and serve others on our school campus, at our churches, and in our community. Responsibilities will include teaching six sections of one grade level of Bible classes and work with the school program in class sponsorships, supervision, and other duties as determined by the administration. The teacher must be a team player and be able to work in a collegial manner with the other high school teachers in managing a holistic program for high schoolers. Applicants for this position must model Christ-like behavior and attitudes that will positively impact students in leading them to Christ. She/He must be able to deliver instruction to students using a variety of teaching methods and activities.
Skills, Education, and Experience Required:
Applicant must be a tithe-paying Seventh-day Adventist church member in good standing and have the legal right to work in the United States, providing evidence if employed. A minimum of a bachelor's degree with North American Division (Denominational) Teacher Certification in Bible is required and must be maintained (or must agree to work towards obtaining NAD Certification). Ideally, the applicant would also have Secondary Bible Encounter training or be able to complete the training immediately. A minimum of three years of successful classroom experience is preferred. Must have a service-oriented attitude; be an effective communicator possessing excellent verbal and written communication skills; and be able to positively engage with students and families of diverse backgrounds, regardless of language, ethnicity, race, or socioeconomic status. Possessing competent technology skills using current educational software and hardware is essential. Additional traits should include organization, attention to detail, being self-directed, and being motivated. Absolute confidentiality is required. Curriculum familiarity, content knowledge, and proficiency in instructional delivery are crucial. Most importantly, the applicant must possess a love for God, a love for working with children, and a desire to see each child in Heaven.
Job Responsibilities:
The teacher will be expected to:
- Promote the Seventh-day Adventist philosophy, ensuring that all subject matter is taught from a Seventh-day Adventist perspective based on curriculum guidelines and requirements of the North American Division, Southern Union Conference, and Florida Conference
- Establish and maintain a Christian atmosphere within the classroom and campus; Conduct a short devotional and have prayer at the beginning of each class
- Develop and submit weekly lesson plans to the principal or vice principal as required; Lesson plans are to include Objectives, Procedures, and Evaluation for each learning style; Must also demonstrate evidence of lesson/unit planning and preparation that honors individual diversity and builds upon prior knowledge
- Develop long-term yearly/semesterly/quarterly plans and goals for each subject
- Select resources to support the subject matter that is academically and developmentally appropriate for diverse abilities and interests
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction to students, employ a variety of teaching techniques and activities appropriate to student learning styles and subject matter, stimulate critical and creative thinking, and monitor student understanding
- Effectively integrate technology into the classroom
- Use a variety of evaluation techniques to provide feedback and communicate progress, providing opportunities for students to learn from mistakes as well as successes
- Utilize appropriate classroom management routines that facilitate student engagement and continuity
- Provide for individual differences through diagnostic and prescriptive teaching
- Communicate challenging expectations that encompass critical and creative thinking as well as problem-solving skills
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports and is conducive to student learning, allowing sufficient time for academic activities
- Utilize effective behavior management techniques which promote self-discipline
- Systematically involve all students in the instructional process and encourage intellectual risk taking
- Maintain accurate and organized student class records (attendance, grades, etc.) on the school's Student Information System (SIS) in compliance with administration
- Provide motivating, timely and constructive feedback to students and parents every week on the SIS
- Communicate with parents regularly, conducting parent/teacher conferences when necessary, keeping them well-informed
- Be willing to grow professionally
