Overview:
Jet Age Fuel is seeking a passionate and driven Transportation Safety Manager to lead our safety initiatives and advocate for a culture of proactive risk management and workplace safety. This role requires experience in trucking and hauling safety, with responsibilities including regular safety spot checks, random observations, ride-alongs, and continuous coaching. DOT experience is a plus but not required. The ideal candidate will bring an unwavering commitment to safety, a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks, and the motivation to voice concerns and advocate for continuous safety improvements across the organization.
Primary Job Responsibilities: (consists of but are not limited to)
- Conduct safety spot checks and random observations, ensuring that safety standards are met across all trucking and hauling operations.
- Actively engage with drivers and staff through hands-on training and coaching, inspiring a collective commitment to safe practices and risk reduction.
- Perform ride-alongs to observe driver practices firsthand, providing immediate feedback, and reinforcing safety standards with genuine care and persistence.
- Serve as a vocal advocate for safety in the workplace, encouraging open communication about safety concerns and promoting solutions that prioritize the well-being of all team members.
- Identify and proactively address risks, with a special focus on trucking, hauling, and forklift driver safety, ensuring that safety improvements are continuously adopted.
- Facilitate "train-the-trainer" programs to empower leaders and supervisors as safety ambassadors within their teams, helping them to model and reinforce best practices.
- Investigate incidents and near-misses thoroughly, addressing root causes and implementing corrective actions that contribute to long-term safety culture.
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics, advocating for changes and improvements where necessary to elevate safety standards.
- Stay informed on workers' compensation risks, developing strategies to minimize claims and enhance overall workplace safety through education and advocacy.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Transportation Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in safety management, with specific experience in trucking and hauling safety.
- A strong passion for safety, with the motivation and drive to continuously advocate for workplace risk reduction and proactive safety measures.
- Hands-on experience in training, coaching, and fostering a culture where safety is a shared priority.
- Familiarity with forklift driver safety and experience with workers' compensation practices.
- Safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Director of Safety (CDS) are a plus.
- Strong communication, observation, and leadership skills, with the ability to voice safety concerns and drive change.
- DOT experience is highly preferred.

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
